Gurpatwant Singh Pannu is a Sikh separatist leader based in the United States. He is the founder and leader of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) organization, which aims to create a separate Sikh state called Khalistan in Punjab, India. Pannu was born in Punjab and immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s. He has been involved in Sikh activism since then, and SFJ was formed in 2007. The Indian government has accused Pannu and the SFJ of advocating violence and terrorism, and has banned the organization in India. Pannu has denied these accusations, stating that SFJ's goal is to achieve independence for Sikhs through peaceful means. However, Pannu's provocative speeches have been linked to violence in Punjab, with Indian authorities claiming that his rhetoric incites separatist sentiments and violence.
